Installation

System requirements

In order to use Apan you will need a few thing;
First of all, you will need Nagios, www.nagios.org (Apan is developed using Nagios 1.0b6).
You will also need a bourne-shell compatible shell, RRD-Tool and the bc command with mathlib support.

Getting the files

Apan can be downloaded from apan.sourceforge.net

Installing files

Go to your Nagios-dir (/usr/local/nagios) and extract the apan-archive. A new dir, apan, is created with all files in it. Make sure that the users that run nagios and your web-server have read-permissions an all files and ithat the Nagios-user have exec-permissions on apan.sh.

Installing cgi's

Copy the files apan.cgi and generate.cgi to Nagios cgi-bin directory (/usr/local/nagios/sbin). Make the files executable by your web-server.

Installing additional plugins

Copy the plugins from the directory libexec in Apan to Nagios libexec-directory (/usr/local/nagios/libexec). Make the files executable by the Nagios-user.

Installing logo-bitmap

Copy the file graph.png to Nagios logo directory (/usr/local/nagios/share/images/logos)

Small hacks

Show the graphs in the same window as Nagios.
Do this if you want to make the graphs appear in the same window as Nagios:
